In Winter, Microspikes or Snowshoes depending on the snow conditions | Carry plenty of water | Less traveled compared to the popular cousin, Mt. Si.

Views: Priceless; Mt. Rainier, Mt. Baker, Glacier Peak, Mailbox Peak and several others.

Area: North Bend Area, Washington

Trailhead: Paved parking lot is past Mount Si trailhead. Open only from 7:00 am to 5:00 PM; Restroom available.

Pass: Discover Pass.

Stats: 10.2 miles, roundtrip; Elevation Gain: 4015ft. Highest Point: 4585 ft.

Journey:

We arrived there at 5:30 am and realized the trailhead is not open. So we went to Mt. Si Trailhead and parked there and hiking the Mt. Si trailhead. Then forked right on the Roaring creek trail and then forked again on the Teneriffe connector trail to reach the Tenerife falls. SiFollow the same trail that goes to the Teneriffe falls. Took a breather here, enjoyed the falls, and continued on the Kamikaze trail. This will definitely remind you of the Mailbox peak hike :)

The summit push is steep and in Winter, you will definitely need traction (snowshoes or microspikes depending on the snow conditions). We were good with spikes. On the return, we took the Teneriffe trail ( a longer trail but more gradual) to complete a loop back to Mt. Si.

The view on the top is well worth the 6 or so miles to the top.

Lesson learned: If we were to do this again, will take the Teneriffe falls train from the new paved parking lot instead of from Mt. Si. This will be much shorter.
